An uke is to receive a technique upon oneself. How you respond to an attack determines how you interpret an uke.
It can be used to block an attack or it can be used to counter strike an opponent's attack by drawing them in intentionally to strike them.
Tsuki (or zuki when used in conjunction with a specific technique) is a punch.
The direction of travel and distance to an opponent can determine which type of punch is used.
The positioning of the front leg in a stance can also influence which punch is used.
Keri (or Geri when used in conjunction with a specific technique) is a kick.
Kicks can be used to attack an opponent, but the lesser known understanding of kicks is their ability to be used as a counter attack. A highly effective method of defence by using distance to keep one's opponent at a reach.
There are many different types of kicks, each using separate body mechanics and parts of the foot for striking.
Uchi is a strike with the hand or arm that is used to attack an opponent.
Strikes open the idea of using parts of your body as a form of weapon, to be used in different situations that would suit each body as a weapon.
